Writing Video Games

A video game screenwriter is a part of a group, who works with people from different professions to realize the player experience. It is crucial to understand that game screenwriting comprises a part of a larger team because the writer needs to satisfy and understand the needs of the many other people. For instance, there are game coders, graphic designers, marketers, executives, and much more.
A video game screenwriter has a demand to drive fresh content into the market, primarily because everyone who is anyone has written an original or a rewrite of the original concept for a game. Everyone knows a zombie game when they see it just as they know an RPG when they see it and those games make the staple commerce of the industry, especially when you are benefiting as their video game screenwriter. However, the real money and difficulty lies in the games that are outside of the box, like "Mass Effect or Arma" for instance. These are massively popular games because of the unique environmental experience and it all started with a single video game screenwriter.
Even deciding to write a game that comes from the staple commerce has quite a few issues. If the concept sounds too similar to another or utilizes story plots from another game, the odds of being found on the receiving end of a copyright lawsuit are large. This requires long hours of going over every option in your genre and ensuring that the final product has not been made before. This is also why many companies hire more than one video game screenwriter.
Once you've managed to create a game script that results in a successful game, there is almost no end to your career. As mentioned above, failing to produce a well-written story several times results in adverse consequences. If you fail at being a lead writer, you can still be a support writer and writers for franchises that fall use group writing to their advantage. It's important to note that all games can fail, with a great example being Killzone, which was a box office hit on the day of the release, but has fallen lower with every new game release.
Many people have great ideas for a game, but are not a professional video game screenwriter. In such circumstances, they can benefit by hiring a qualified screenwriter to help see their idea to completion with a well written screenplay.
